There are musical opportunities for people of all ages at Laurel: singing, handbell and chime ensembles, and instrumental ensembles, and everyone is encouraged to participate.
No audition is required, and every group is delighted to welcome new members at any time of the year. Contact the leader of each group by clicking on their name below, or simply attend a rehearsal at the time listed. Let’s make some joyful noise!

For Children
Church Mice
This is a fun musical experience for babies and toddlers age 0-4 years along with a parent or caregiver. Featuring music designed specifically for the very young child, Church Mice incorporates a variety of rhythm instruments and movement. This group meets in the Parlor on Sundays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Rachel Friedman leads this group.
Little Angel Band
Pre-schoolers and kindergartners meet during their 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour in their classroom to learn music, which they sing during worship on the fourth Sunday of each month. Rachel Friedman is the leader of this group.

God’s Sunshine of Praise
Directed by Rachel Friedman, first and second graders meet in their classroom during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour to learn music, and sing in worship on the fourth Sunday of each month.
SoundQuake
SoundQuake is made up of children in second through fifth grades, and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 5:40-6:25 p.m. in Room 109. SoundQuake learns a variety of styles of music, and incorporates instruments and movement. Joann Overholt is the director, and Debbie Holmes is the accompanist. SoundQuake sings during the 9:30 and 10:45 worship services on the second Sunday of each month.
Chime Time/Chimes Plus
Chime Time/Chimes Plus plays a variety of music on chimes and handbells, and is directed by Lauri Miguel. This group of second through fifth graders rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:10-5:40 p.m. in the Choir Room. This group participates in worship at the call of the Director.
Grace Notes
Grace Notes is a beginning/intermediate handbell group for those in grade 6 through adults. This group, directed by Lauri Miguel, rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:45-6:30 p.m. in the choir room. This group participates in worship at the call of the Director.
For Teens
Teen Band and Teen Choir
Performing on the fourth Sunday of each month from September through May in worship, both of these groups create upbeat, contemporary music. Practice for the choir is weekly at 10:15 a.m. and for the band at 10:30 a.m. in the lower level “band room” near the high school and junior high Sunday School rooms.
The group is open to anyone from grade six through college. Rehearsals are fun and casual and we brainstorm ideas for new pieces to learn. If you hear a tune on the radio and you like it, write down the title and bring it to rehearsal. We’ll get the music and give it a try.
Bring your singing voices and/or instruments to a rehearsal. We would love to see you on any Sunday. The adult leaders of these groups are Jennifer Allen, Gary Bacon, Rick Gosch and Mary Myers.
For Adults
Laurel Chorale
Laurel Chorale is a women’s choir that rehearses on Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:15 a.m. in the Choir Room, and sings in the 9:30 a.m. worship service each Sunday from September through May. We enjoy our ministry of music! Doug Hahn directs; Debbie Holmes accompanies.
Chancel Choir
This choir is open to all adults, and is directed by Doug Hahn and accompanied by Debbie Holmes. Chancel choir rehearses from 7:00-8:15 p.m. every Thursday night, and sings in the 10:45 worship service each week from September through May. The choir tackles a wide variety of musical styles and difficulties, and has a great time in the process!
Grace Notes
Grace Notes is a beginning/intermediate handbell group for those in grade 6 through adults. This group, directed by Lauri Miguel, rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:45-6:30 p.m. in the choir room. This group participates in worship at the call of the Director.
Asbury Bells
Asbury Bells is an advanced handbell group which rehearses with director Doug Hahn on Thursdays from 6:00-6:45 p.m. in the Choir Room. Asbury Bells play frequently in the 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services.
